Wighton

Wighton

Wighton sits astride the River Stiffkey, three miles southeast of Wells-next-the-Sea. It is a very attractive village with some particularly fine houses.

All Saints' Church was built around 1450 to replace a smaller church. The tower was rebuilt in 1976 after blowing down in a storm on November 27, 1965. There is a rood staircase buit into the last pier of the south arcade and into the chancel arch. Unfortunately the rood loft is no longer there. The nave has 15th century windows, the aisle windows contain some stained glass from the Norwich School.
