The Creakes are two villages following the course of the little River Burn, as it runs down to the Burnhams.

The church of Our Lady St. Mary is a large, broad building set in a quiet and very pretty corner of the village. It was well restored in the 13th century and has an excellent single hammerbeam roof. There is a sturdy tower,

and its vast interior of 20ft x 52ft gives it the feel of a cathedral, flooded with natural light from the nave's nine southern windows, five high in the clerestory. The chancel was built in the 1200s, the nave re-built in 1330 and altered c1415. From the roof hang brightly painted wooden angels, raised to celebrate Henry V's victory at Agincourt in 1415.
