Holt
Holt is a popular and attractive small town at the heart of North Norfolk. (Map of Holt HERE >>). It's weekly market is now long gone, alas, but its growing number of attractive shops more than makes up for this.
![]() The main street runs from west to east - from the Methodist Church (1862) on the junction with the A148, to the parish church, St. Andrew's, just beyond the Market Place. St. Andrew's suffered from the fire that struck the town in 1708, then was restored again in 1863. It is somewhat tucked away from the main hub-bub and activity of the town which centres on the main street and its arteries. There are many splendid Georgian houses which date from the rebuilding after the 1708 fire. Today, tourists flock to the many antique, food, clothes and gift shops and galleries to be found hidden away down the back alleys and yards - notably Appleyard, Chapel Yard. William Evans
