Felbrigg

Felbrigg Hall

Felbrigg Hall has a majestic park to its south front and the Great Wood to the rear extending northwards to the Runtons. It was built in 1620, added to in 1674-87, and again in 1750. The orangery and the dovecote both date from the 18th century.

The Drawing Room has a spectacular plaster ceiling, dated 1687, as is that in the Drawing Room at Melton Constable Hall. Almost certainly created by the same craftsmen. The Park is thought to have been laid out by Repton.

Originally owned by the Wyndham family and (via the Kettons and the Cremers) it eventually was left to the National Trust in 1969.

St. Margaret's Church standing alone in the park was once part of the village that has now gone.
