Edgefield

Though Edgefield is not an especially large village, it is spread over a large area. the north-eastern half follows the course of the B1149 Holt to Norwich road, while Edgefield Street is towards the the southwest.

The old tower

St.Peter and St.Paul's Church was rebuilt in the 1880s on a new more central site under the leadership of the rector, Canon Walter Marcon. The new church was a reproduction of the old one, apart from the tower, using some pieces from the original. Consecration took place in 1885 and the tower was built in 1907-09, with a clock added in 1921.

The tower from the old church (above) still stands one mile away in a farmyard. It is octagonal in shape and built from flint and carstone.
