Burnham Market & Burnham Westgate

Burnham Market

There are seven Burnham parishes all clustered together 4 miles or so west of Wells-next-the-Sea. Burnhams Westgate, Sutton and Ulph are absorbed together in Burnham Market, which is now thriving as a centre for its wide range of shops and other businesses.

St. Mary's, Burnham Westgate

Westgate church, St. Mary the Virgin, stands at the west end of the wide Market Place. It has a 13th century tower that was revamped in the 15th century. In the mid-18th century the tower was in a ruinous condition and a buttress was errected, then a second was added in 1876.
