Binham is a most attractive village between Wells-next-the-Sea and Holt, with many fine flint cottages, houses and farmhouses.

The Priory remains

At the focal point of the village is Binham Priory, founded in 1091 by Peter de Valoines for Benedictine monks. Not a lot of the monastic buildings have survived intact, only nave is still more or less complete and is now the parish Church of St. Mary.

Of the ruins, the stone and flint columns standing to the east lend an eerie but beautiful aspect. Many of the cottages in the village were buit using stones from the ruins.
